Benefits of Over-the-head Headsets!

Over-head headsets are a valuable addition to your hi-fi system because playback via the floor standing speakers or bookshelf speakers of your stereo system is not possible at an appropriate volume. For example, too later, Hour or other people are in the room – you can still enjoy your favorite music in high quality with good sets. On the other hand, acoustic shielding from your surroundings ensures that you are not disturbed even while listening to music. Benefits of Over-the-head Headsets below.

As the name suggests, over-ear headphones enclose the entire auricle with a softly padded material. It keeps ambient noise essentially outside and ensures that little sound penetrates to the outside. In addition, the seal creates a resonance space between the loudspeaker capsule and the ear, which intensifies the low frequencies and thus provides a decent bass foundation. The voluminous housing capsules with large integrated loudspeakers with diameters between 30 and 70 mm also contribute to the rich sound.

You can get over-head headsets in two fundamentally different versions: classic with cable or wireless design with radio transmission.

  • Suppose you want to connect your sets directly to your stereo system and rule out any transmission problems due to radio interference or insufficient range. In that case, a wired model is the right choice for you.
  • Over-ear headsets without cables offer you a high degree of freedom of movement – you can stay anywhere in the room without annoying cables, with a range of 10 to 100 m. In addition, almost all current wireless headsets use Bluetooth technology to transmit the digital Music signal.

Due to the large design, over-ears are mainly suitable for use in your own four walls. Over-ears weigh between 200 and 500 g, with the weight being put into perspective by the broad, soft-coated headphone hanger. Even heavier models are comfortable to wear for a long time.

The frequency spectrum that the human ear can perceive is around 10 to 20,000 Hz (Hertz, oscillations per second) – so your new sets should be able to reproduce at least this frequency range. Thanks to high-quality transducers in the capsules of over-ears, some models achieve significantly more comprehensive frequency responses.

The connection cable of your new headphones should be at least 2 m long so that you can easily bridge the distance between the stereo system and the listening position.

Even with wireless models, you should ensure that the audio cable included in the scope of delivery is sufficiently long that it allows alternative operation directly on the amplifier or on other sources. High-quality headsets are often supplied with two cables – a short cable between 1.0 and 1.2 m long for mobile use and an audio cable between 2 and 5 m long for enjoying music at home.

You often use headphones and enjoy listening to music undisturbed or not to disturb others. However, in addition to the excellent sound through high-quality sound transducers with a diameter of up to 40 mm, low weight and high wearing comfort play an essential role for you.
