How to Troubleshoot Garage Door Openers?

Garage door openers are the best choice to ease up your life. All you have to do is press a button or give a voice command, and its opens and closes the door automatically. But sometimes, the machine itself becomes a mess. The motor wears out and stops working, and you are either stuck in the garage or unable to park your car into it. However, there are certain things that you can try to solve this issue. How to Troubleshoot Garage Door Openers?

Garage door openers troubleshoot a common topic these days, so we have gathered some of the simple things that you could do to make the motors start working again.

Check your doors first

Before doing anything with the openers, pull the emergency release and see if the door opens and closes smoothly. If the garage door isn’t opening correctly, the issue is with its rollers and assembly rather than the openers and motor. You can solve this by lubricating the rollers or cleaning any obstacle in the assembly.

If the rollers are fine and you are confident that the issue is with the opener, then follow the procedure below:-

Take all the safety measures first 

Before touching the motors or any other component of the opener, make sure that you unplug the device to disable its connection with the remote and electricity. It will protect your fingers from being smashed by the motors if someone accidentally presses any button on the remote.

Check if the remote and wall switch is working

To identify the main issue, operate the motors will all the way you can do it. Pres the opening button on the remote and also check if the wall switch is also operating it or not. If the remote is working fine, but the wall switch isn’t, replace it with a new one. Before replacing the switch, check for the wires as well to see if they are wearing out.

Similarly, if the switch is working fine, but the remote cannot operate the doors openers, check if the batteries are dead. Replacing the batteries will solve the problem in most cases, but if the issue continues, consider replacing the remote with a new one.

Check the door sensors

There are possibilities that the door sensors are facing issues that are resulting in unaligned door operations. Replacing only the sensors can make your door openers start functioning smoothly again.

Only the Lights are not working

If all of the door openers are working fine but not turning on the lights, check for the light bulb socket or change the bulbs.
